Irene has loved quilts most of her adult life and finally got the opportunity late in life to take some quilting lessons.Irene began her quilting journey in 2000 and has made several quilts for her family members since then. She never took on the small projects like wall hangings; no, jumped right in to the full and queen sized quilts. Irene loves taking the whole piece of cloth, cutting it into small pieces and putting the pieces of the puzzle back together again to make something unique. Now she devotes a great deal of her time to teaching and making quilts for children who are terminally ill. |
Quilting is my passion - every aspect of it for almost 10 years now. As a child I hand sewed my doll clothes from scraps of fabric. When I was a young teen my mom showed me how to thread her old Singer machine and said, "Call me if you have a problem. From then on I made most of my and some of my friends' clothes all through high school. I very rarely asked her for help. As an adult, I have done all types of home dec sewing, but when I made my very first quilt I knew that I had found my true love. I have been learning, creating, designing and teaching ever since. |
